Motorola Software Update site

Motorola now has a Software Update for the Verizon K1m on their
Support page:

http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto...dateselect.asp

At the URL above, select Verizon Wireless at "Select Carrier Type",
then select the model on the Choose Phone Model link.

The Q and Ve were already there, The K1m was just added.

I did it , changed the picture. What else is it suppose to have done?

After seeing this site, I am really tempted to flash my Verizon phone
(K1m) with the Alltel software. Has anyone tried it?

I have a lot of ringtones and accumulate txt messages quickly, which
seems to make my phone very unstable.

Why flash phone with attel software what does that do ?

It takes a bit of reading and understanding but you get rid of the
horrid red Verizon UI, you get to connect to the media center of
Motorola Phone Tools, you get all the things that Verizon wants you to
pay for for free AND if you have a problem it's very easy to flash the
phone back to the original software. Just make sure you follow the
links to download the VIVO flash, the V3M Verizon Monster Flash and
updates and the Altel flash if that's what you like.

I used the generic Motorola flash and it makes my V3M a phone I *may*
be able to live with (I still think about re-activating my E815 and
selling the V3M on Ebay.)

The Alltel E815 has no hobbling I can find. I'm using it as a BT
modem for my Nokia N800 internet tablet in places without real
wifi very successfully...(c;

I do have an issue with the phone rebooting during data packets
on Alltel. There hasn't been a resolution and I know other
Alltel users with similar disconnects. I called Motorola and was
told it is normal for the E815 to reboot when dumped by the
carrier's data network to reset the cache and restart its OS to
default, which makes sense. This problem is Alltel's dumping the
phones. I got one callback for more info from Alltel but have
not been told more since that call. My trouble ticket is still
open. Before it gets dumped, E815 works great as a BT DUN.
Alltel charges $25/mo and doesn't block any ports I know of.
Google Talk, Skype for internet tablet, and other VoIP work fine.
