Default Moving number to Page Plus

Hi all

I am looking to move my number from Verizon to Page Plus, as I yet to
come close to using the 400 minutes I have each month with Verizon.
Can this easily be done? Also should I cancel my account before or
after I do this. I would like to sign on to verrizonwireless.com to do
this but I know that is not possible, so how do I go about doing this
(I just hate dealing with people on phone, especially when I know that
they are going to try and get me to stay with their company)? I think
my billing cycle ends on on 11/06/09 do I need to wait until to cancel
my service or can I do that now.

Thanks
Cleda N.

Do NOT, repeat, do NOT cancel the account you're porting from, or you
will lose the number. I've ported twice, VZ >> Sprint and Sprint >> T-
Mobile, and both times, the carrier I ported from *automatically* closed
the account after I ported.

ALso, keep in mind that if you are under contract, porting will cause
Early Termination fees to be charged by the carrier that is losing you.

I assume porting can be done from Verizon to PagePlus. I've never tried
it, though.

You must NOT cancel your Verizon account! That takes the number away
from you, instantly. Don't tell Verizon anything so you don't get
screwed until you get that number wrestled away from them......most
important.

If you are not on a VZW contract, you can cancel your service AFTER the
number is firmly transferred and working on your Pageplus account at any
time. This close to the anniversary date, don't expect a refund for
days not used....ha!

Don't say anything to VERizon to let them know you are going to PP.
NOTHING. AFTER you have moved the number, you can tell them you'll stay
on Verizon for the same price you're paying for PP on their same system.
1200 minutes + 1200 SMS/picture messages with 50MB of data for $29.95
with no contract, no funny charges, no funny business. I must admit it
WAS fun to offer them this price point when I left. They hung up on
me...(c;]

Get on Pageplus over the webpage, including getting a new Pageplus phone
number working and charged up with some money on whatever plan you want.
Call Pageplus tech support and tell the nice lady you wish to port your
Verizon number to Pageplus as per FCC regulations. She'll start the
transfer paperwork and the systems will move the number within a few
days, probably after a Verizon Stalling Period. Expect Verizon's Anti-
Churning department to call you on the newly ported number to start
making excuses why you were charged 4 times as much and every month your
minutes were stolen away from you if you didn't use them. Be nice, a
thanks-but-no-thanks after the sales pitch is prudent. While you have
the Churn department on the line, ONLY IF YOUR PORT IS NOW COMPLETE AND
YOUR PAGEPLUS IS USING YOUR PORTED NUMBER...ONLY IF....the time is ripe
to ask the VZW rep to cancel your account and ask for a refund for
unused days on the old plan. Try not to giggle with glee until he's not
listening any more. I nearly burst trying to be syrupy sweet with The
Borg for the cancel...(c;] Don't forget to ask him to take you off all
the "we want you back" mailing lists, and make sure he knows you want to
OPT OUT of any and all Verizon advertising and selling your personal
info to anyone at all. Nice...but FIRM...businesslike.

If you feel you cannot control yourself, click him on hold or mute your
mic while you chortle, scream and can get hold of yourself. Pardon
yourself when you go back on with him. You had to "cough", right?

Once loose from The Borg's grip, use this month's savings to take the
whole family out to a nice restaurant to restore their respect for you
running around holding up your sellphone and screaming, "I'M FREE! I'M
FREE!" like a concentration camp inmate just released by the winning
army....(c;]

Tell the longwinded relatives, "Can I call you back in 5 minutes? I
have to take care of something." Dump them to save minutes then call
them back on Skype Out so they can go on and on and on without getting
mad at you....at no cost on Skype....

At my current rate of usage...my monthly PagePlus cost is going to be
about $11/month. I bought enough minutes to last me until next July
when you add up the 83 minutes every 4 months at $10 to the usage from
the cheap discount $80 card. Hell, I'm spending LESS on sellphone
service, now, than the TAXES and goofy ADDONS on the Verizon bill was
charging every month!

I ported from VZW to Sprint in '04... the port went through within 24
hours of my request. Same with the port from Sprint to T-Mo.

There's no need to say anything. Just have PP port your number from
Verizon.
