Default Page Plus questions.

My wife and I have a VZW family plan with 550 minutes a month. In a
busy month we may use 200 minutes and less than 10 texts, so we are
looking at PagePlus, specifically the $12 plan.

Can my current numbers be ported and what doesit entail (and cost)? I
notice the raoming areas are bigeer than the reguulat VZW. Does it
warn when roaming? Is there a way to check current usage on their site
so you can know where you stand?

The other question has to do with the VZW stuff that's still on the
phone. My wife's nephew came to the US for a couple of weeks so we got
home one of the PagePluse $10 cards. It handled phone calls just fine
but the VZW bakup assistant and other sthings kept popping up and
asking to select something. Is there a way to remove all that?

Making the change would save us over $40 a month. Any help/advice
appreciated.

Yes.

Calling customer service,

$0.00

Yes, for outgoing calls (double dialing). No for incoming calls (other
than the roaming indicator on the phone).

Yes.

Don't know.

I suspect that the $80/1 year card on the standard plan would be a
better deal for you than the $12/month plan. 200 minutes and 10 texts
would be $8.40 plus the $0.50 monthly fee for a total of $8.90, so $80
would last about 9 months if every month was a "busy month." Less waste
during light usage months and no problem during high usage months.
Unless you need that 10MB of data that comes with the $12 plan.

Buy refills from callingmart.com when they have a 5% off sale (like now,
with code "Hdays11-5"). Beware that they can be annoying the first time
you buy from them with their verification process.

That I can answer: Yes, there is. Go to www.pagepluscellular.com,
log in, got to "My Account" (high in the URH region), then go to
"Call Records" (or something reminiscent of that) in a LH pane.

Up to 40 records per page, newest first, as many pages as you want.

Oh: that's provided the site's not undergoing periodic maintenance :-) .

HTH. Cheers, -- tlvp

Depends on the handset, I imagine. Only handset I know how to treat
is Samsung SCH-a930. There you cancel from the Backup Assistant client:

[Menu > GetItNow > GetGoing > BackupAssistant > Options > Cancel Subscr'n].

Your handset probably has some vaguely similar way of getting rid of it.

Thanks to all who responded. I do not see the $80/1 year card on the
PP site, but I have seen dealers offering an $80 2000minute card. I
see nothing about texts other than a montly plan. How do they get
computed with a prepaid card plan? I assume it's per text as used. I
just find the pricing other than the fixed monthly plans very
confusing, which was why I was thinking about the $12 plan.

My wife could likely get by on a $10 card three times a year. She
rarely uses 25 minutes a month now and she refuses to learn to
send/receive texts:-) The ability to occasionally text her so she
doesn't try to answer a call while driving but can still get a message
would be a good thing.

A good thing for getting her crashing into the ditch or median, yes.

Or can she find the phone, navigate to the SMS menu, activate the Incoming
SMS screen, find the newest text, and then finally read it, all that while
keeping her eyes on the road at the same time?

I sure as heck can't! But HMMV :-) .

Thanks. Found it. After finally finding Backup Assistant in the Media
Center, there's a Remove option.

My point was that instead of doing anything while driving she could
wait until she stops and read the text. She hasn't figured out
voicemail either.

Nah, I should have more generously given you the benefit of the doubt :-) .

Had occasion to do this earlier this evening for the first time ever,
and was grateful for the buck the code saved me on two $10 PINs,
hence tried to submit your geemail address (from your header, but
with the "ee" stripped out) as the one to whom credit should go.

No idea if that's anywhere near right, but no great harm, I guess, if
it wasn't -- let me know at my unmunged addie what's right, if that was
wrong, for the next time, if you like :-) .

BTW, how long's a PIN good, before you absolutely *must* use it?
Six months? A year? other?

Again, thanks for the code :-) . "Every litter bit helps," as they say.

:-) . Cheers, -- tlvp

IIRC, a year from the date of purchase.

Great! Another question if I may: how long, once the "remaining balance"
has gone to zero (through use, or because of monthly 50-cent debit towards
the 25th/26th of the month) before the account is considered terminated,
and the number put back into the pool of Page Plus numbers available
to new customers? A week? 10 days? 2 weeks? a month? other?

TIA ! Cheers, -- tlvp
