So I have this antique Moto StarTac, with Verizon trim,
about four years *off* Verizon service, that I want to
get signed up on Page Plus with. (CDMA 1900 & 800, and
AMPS 800, fwiw, with room for two numbers/accounts.)
So I dial #737 ... but it's Verizon that picks up, with
a recording about this phone's having no Verizon service.
Where's my error, and how do I fix it? Thanks, -- tlvp

I don't think #737 works until you're a PP customer. You need to set up
the account and activate first.

So it would appear.

And before ya do anything with the ESN, must I notify
either VZW or PP, by voice, of my intentions?

Don't contact Verizon at all. You can contact PagePlus customer service to
activate the phone by voice at:
(800) 550-2436
Or you can try their activations email address (never used it):
Or you can explore the many dealers out there who can handle this for you.
Kitty Wireless is popular and very good, but at the high end of what you can
pay. I've used them, and several others, all with good results.

No, as long as the VZN phone is inactive, (out of service for four years
certainly qualifies as inactive!) you should be good to go.

Thanks, tycho, info good to store away for future reference.

Indeed, OoS for *more* than four and a half years (last outgoing call
is recorded as having taken place Feb 7, 2007 :-) ). Thanks, Todd.
And cheers, -- tlvp
