I was surprised to see them continue to widen their lead over AT&T in
terms of retail postpaid wireless customers. I thought the iPhone would
help AT&T add more retail customers than Verizon.

It appears that Verizon intentionally doesn't want to go after the low
margin prepaid customers, as their InPulse prepaid really sucks in terms
of cost. They must be afraid that if they offered good prepaid, those
customers that went with Verizon only because of coverage would switch
to it. Ironically, the lowest cost, and best quality of coverage prepaid
is on a Verizon MVNO, PagePlus, that is relatively unknown.

I set up PagePlus on one of my older phones for someone I know. Its a
great service. All the benefits of Verizon, no contracts, and the
rates are pretty darn reasonable.

And they'll even activate an old non-GPS capable phone (shhhh!)

Sometimes I think that if PagePlus suddenly became well known and
started signing up hundreds of thousands customers, Verizon would cut
them off.
