Default Ringtones on the VX8300

To Elector, Robert Coe and Barry (and anyone else who tried to help!).
I GOT IT!
Using the el cheapo Bluetooth USB dongle I just purchased from Newegg
for about $15 and the Bitpim software, I was able to take my .mp3 music
files, .mid sound files any other ditties I could find and store them
on my MicroSD inside of the LG VX8300 phone and use them as Ringtones.

Finally.

In this way, my Ringtones don't cost me anything, my phone memory
doesn't fill up and I can move, change, delete and/or add contacts,
music, wallpaper, ringtones, etc with no effort, directly from my PC to
my phone.

I used the included software drivers that came on the CD with the
Bluetooth dongle (I believe the brand is AZIO??); paired the phone with
the dongle and away I went.
Biggest headache was realizing that the port I needed to tell the
Bitpim software about was port 40. Who knew. That port information was
given to me after I installed the dongle under WinXP SP2.

Anyway, thanks to all for your help and guidance.
Have a great holiday.

AwRIIIIIIGHT!! Congratulations!

As I mentioned in email, I finally got my Bluetooth-equipped Dell laptop to
talk to my 8300 and my wife's. Mine (the first one) grabbed port 40, hers port
41. I surmise, from your experience and mine, that a Bluetooth driver will
start assigning ports with 40 and continue upwards from there, as long as
those ports aren't already taken. But just try to find that written down
anywhere.

Thanks. I learned some useful stuff while using up a couple of vacation days
this week; sounds like you did too.

Sorry I missed the earlier posts, was it possible to use a card reader
to copy files to the card, then put the card back in the phone?

Thanks,
Mike

That's how I do it, except my card reader is just a old pos digicam.
