i have purchased a sd memory card for this phone i am able to put songs onto
the memory card the phone sees the memory card and the songs but i can not
play the songs directly from the memory card i have to transfer them to the
phone directory. is there a way to play the songs from the memory card as
the device does not have that much memory?

.....because Verizon doesn't want you to....as usual.

The reason many of the controls and features other carriers have on that
same phone are missing is directly responsible to the Verizon firmware
burned into it turning those features off or trying to resell them to
you....

Compare a Motorola Z6m on Alltel to one on Verizon, the same exact phone
except for the carrier firmware.....

Is there a hack that I can do to the phone to get it to recognize the memory
card?

See if there's any help here:
http://www.howardforums.com

You can read all the forums but you'll have to register to ask a
question. Registration only asks a valid email address (you can use a
throwaway such as Yahoo or Hotmail) and a user name.

NOTE to the OP, the Samsung Alias is a renamed U740, look for Samsung
U740 threads on Howard Forums.

Check Howard Forums' Verizon forum. There are lots of hacks posted over
there.

I actually looked earlier as well to Howard Forum but did not see anything.
I just posted my question there as well.

Thanks

just get an iPhone and you won't have to deal with those cumbersome SD
disks... those are really painful to use when you know that iTunes does
all that for you, completely free.
