Default Sprint Treo 650(non-sim) on Verizon?

I have been hearing conflicting reports about Verizon granting the ablitity
to use non-verizon gsm phones and smartphones on a Verizon account. I have
had Verizon for six months, and am overall satisfied with my service, but I
use a pda daily and am sick of carrying two devices. I am currently using a
Sprint branded Treo 650 as my pda, and want to use it as my phone as well.
Can this be done? If yes, how? If not yet, when? If no, why? I have tried
flashing my phone with the verizon treo 650 firmware, but it failed, even
after Palm told me that it could be done. I want to have all the use that I
would have if it was a verizon treo instead of a sprint treo. Any help you
can provide would be great. Google has been no help at all.

The 650p flashed with Alltel's firmware runs fine on Verizon. The guy I
know who uses it used Verizon's online activation webpage. Alltel firmware
isn't all hobbled up so everything works...(c;

And how do I flash it with a different firmware? I tried before, and got
nowhere? Is there a website that details this process?
