I used BitPim with several phones in the past.
The features supported varied with the phone I was
using. I only used it with Outlook 2003 so can't
answer your other question. Best bet is to give
it a try.
As far as cables go...that can be a tricky
question...some have experienced problems when
trying to use third party cables some have not. I
never had a problem and I have used some cables
from the CellPhoneShop...a Chinese outfit I believe.
I can't offer anything as to using the cable you
mention...try at your own risk...the third party
cables are cheap.
