Default Use New-Every-Two on FamilyShare 2nd line?

I currently have a 2-line FamilyShare plan and the contract is up. My
phone is the primary line, and my wife's phone is the second line.
Our two-year contract is up, and we are eligible for the New-Every-Two
discount.

I no longer need my phone. I would like to "downsize" our plan to a
single line, but I'd like to have the single line be my wife's phone
number, and I'd like to use the New-Every-Two to upgrade her phone.

Is this something that VZW is going to allow? Has anyone done
something like this recently? I just worry about the red-tape of
using the New-Every-Two which is probably "attached" to my phone
number, but then telling them that I want to cancel that line.

Chris

That shouldn't be a problem. Keep in mind you are signing up for another two
year contract when you get the new phone

I'm not following you. If your new phone replaced an existing phone, it
wouldn't cost $10 more per month, but if this is a new phone and additional
number, it would cost an additional $10 per month

What's that got to do with the $10 per month charge that Montano's talking
about?

I have a family share plan, with four phones on it. I pay $10 per month for
each additional phone after the first two. On the VW website it lists all my
phones and the dates at when I can buy new phones (with contracts) at
discounted prices for each of them

The XV-6800 will be replacing the 6700 probably this summer. Essentially
it's the Windows Mobile 6 version of the 6700.

IIRC, the Q won't be replaced with a newer model, it'll have a WM6
firmware upgrade available.

Not necessarily. See below.

NE2 gets you $50 or $100, depending on the amount of your monthly
service.

http://support.vzw.com/features/call...every_two.html

How to Get It

You are automatically enrolled in our New Every Two program when you
sign up for a two-year agreement on a calling plan with a monthly
access of $34.99 or higher. If you maintain service on a calling plan
of $34.99 or higher and fulfill your two-year term, you will qualify
for a free phone. If your calling plan monthly access is $79.99 or
higher for the entire three months prior to completing your New Every
Two phone upgrade, you will get up to $100.00 toward the purchase of
that phone. If your calling plan monthly access was between $34.99 and
$79.98 at any time during the three months prior to completing your
New Every Two phone upgrade, you will get up to $50.00 toward the
purchase of that phone. When completing your New Every Two upgrade,
you will need to renew your agreement for another two years on a
calling plan with a monthly access of $34.99 or higher.

You must retain the same wireless handset for 24 months in order to
receive the full advantages of this program. If you choose to replace
your handset at a discounted price, you will forfeit your benefits and
be automatically reenrolled if you meet the requirements of the
program.
