Use verizon service/phone in Bahamas?

At year end I am taking a trip to the Bahamas. Just wondering if my
phone and verizon service would work while there or would I have to do
something with the service prior to leaving in order to provide that
ability?
I have a Samsung SCH-a930, or I could use an LG8300.
