I've been with Verizon for 4 years now with good service, very unremarkable
plans and crippled phones. I know that Sprint coverage where I live is
comparable to Verizon, and the SERO plans cannot/will not be matched by
Verizon. My contract is up in 3 weeks, so Goodbye V, Hello Sprint.

VZW better snark up their plans! I was in an att/Cingular store yesterday
and they now have a plan with unlimited calls to all att wireless and
landline phones. People were fighting over each other to find a sales babe
and sign up!
And BTW, most of those sales babes were hotties---0 unlike most of the VZW
stores in my area where it's Piggy City....

How hot the salesperson is should always be the first consideration when
buying communications equipment.

I have a rule based on years at jobs that involved making numerous
purchasing decisions. The rule is that it is very likely that the
product or service in question will be the inferior one if Ken and/or
Barbie are the salesperson.

10 numbers, any system, any cellphone, any time for free.
Free? Yep. If you buy a plan as expensive as Verizon's smallest, My
Circle is included free. Alltel has cheaper plans that don't include it,
if that suits you. It just works better....(c;
900 mins with circle is $59 nationwide. 1200 minutes with circle is $59
on a regional plan Verizon no longer offers. That's 20 hours a
month...not including your 10 number circle calls, Alltel-to-Alltel M2M
which is always free, Free nights and weekends you can expand to 7PM
nightly for $3/mo extra....It's just FAR better, not a little better.
When you upgrade from Girlfriend 1.8 to 1.9, for instance, you just
change your Circle numbers to reflect the upgrade from the webpage....no
charge. Doesn't matter that Girlfriend 1.8 was on Verizon and 1.9 is on
Cingular.
Hell, $60 on Verizon buys you 450 minutes and you can only call Verizon
customers. It's just not competitive....it sucks. Verizon wants $80 for
900 minutes and STILL doesn't give you anything like the Circle, just IN
calling M2M verizon customers.
Sorry if you don't live in an Alltel area....it's great.
Larry is NOT an Alltel employee...just a mostly-satisfied customer...

Altell is actually pretty solid in my neck of the woods, SW FL, it's just
those SERO plans are gonna be tough to beat. https://www.inphonic.com/specialoffe...dabb40&cenbd=0

It's rather amusing to see Alltel's national TV ads. The calling circle
sounds great, too bad they're advertising out here in California where
they don't have any presence at all.
In my area, nearly every business contact, friend, and relative is on
Verizon, so the MTM calling is sufficient, but when I call outside the
San Francisco Bay Area, I find I'm calling a lot of Sprint and T-Mobile
customers.

Careful now...that grass is always greener you know....and those bridges
catch fire real easy. <smile>
Ditto, here in NY. Seems to me that all the available cell companies have
similar plans. I had Sprint before Verizon. In my area the call quality was
so poor, even if it was half the price, what good is it if "you can't hear
me now"

FYI ... the Sprint billing system is completely HOSED. If you do everything
according to the master plan, you will be fine, but if you have any issues
that are aside from the norm, forget it, you will be unhappy. For instance,
a warrantee/insurance phone swap resets your timer for the $150 credit for a
new phone back to two years. There are plenty more issues. Their billing
system is simply so subpar, that they are just above the days of using a
typewriter and manilla envelopes filed in a cabinet.

I still have a typewriter, and a Brownie camera with film in it. I'm not
sure if the typewriter ribbon still works. Maybe I should check it.
