Default verizon customer service

Has anyone been getting calls from customer service?
About a month ago I got a call saying I was over my minutes(I was not) and
didn't I want to sign up for a plan to increase my minutes? I called back
later and told them I was not happy with this attempt to renew my contract.
They apologized. Today I received a call telling me they would give me a
free month of service if I renewed my contract. I said no I like the fact I
had no contract and that I was not obligated to anyone. My question is can
they assign me a new contract without me knowing over the phone ?

Sprint did exactly that to me when I was out of contract. I was very happy
with their coverage here in SW Florida, but I can't abide lying scum. I'll
never go back. I suggest you call V's CS and ask them. I've never had them
knowingly lie to me.

A rep at my local phone company did something like that to me once, some
years ago. She gave me some plan that included caller ID and a bunch of
stuff. I never requested or approved any of it. I was talking to them
about something else entirely.

Now, when an order is placed I get an automatic email notice, so things are
little safer. I got an email for a miss-ordered line item on an order, and
was able to call them promptly about the error. In this 2nd case it seemed
to be an honest error.

So far, Verizon seems accurate in what they bill vs. what I ordered. They
are expensive, but it all looks accurate.

Short answer: no, they cannot. Without you in person signing a
contract, they cannot do it.

Longer answer: it won't stop them from trying. There are multiple
tales of people who are put into new contracts either without signing
anything, or being completely lied to about what they were signing.
I've seen this last behavior myself. While trying to change a name on
an existing contract, reading the fine print showed that they were in
fact signing me up for another two years, despite my being told this
was absolutely not the case. I was somewhat less than polite with the
salesperson at that point.

Check everything every time you deal with them. Check your bills; they
say what if any contract you are in as of that bill printing. If it
ever changes, high thee hoe down to the nearest Verizon store and give
them a piece of your mind.
