:4 Years ago when the big 3 (Sprint, T-Mobile and At&t) decided to go
: ahead with a public cell phone directory, Verizon put the foot in the
: door. Recently the news about cell phone directory started to
: circulate the net again... this time there might be more success.
: Although privacy activists are right for the most part.... but in our
: mobile phone society when many people don't even have home phones
: anymore life without cell phone directory sucks.
:
: There are private directories like they talk in this post
:
http://www.goarticles.com/cgi-bin/showa.cgi?C=2091491
:
: These often give you inaccurate info though because the cell phone
: companies recycle the numbers nowadays and such private paid
: directories cannot keep up with updates... as they need to shell out
: every time for new info... Anyway, hope Verizon will cooperate this
: time better.
Every land line company and their brother sell my number and other personal
data. The last thing I want is my cell phone offered up for someone's
profit. To stop the abuse I'm expected to pay for an unlisted number.
My land line is listed in my great grand father's name on my mother's side.
The minute the caller uses that name I know where they 'found' the number.
