Verizon Wireless Introduces New America¹s Choice Select Plans with
Unlimited Messaging

04/16/2007

BASKING RIDGE, NJ ‹ Verizon Wireless today announced America¹s Choice®
Select plans that include Unlimited Messaging. The owner of the nation¹s
most reliable wireless network is also introducing new America¹s Choice
Family SharePlan® Select plans with Unlimited Messaging for all the
lines on the plan. The new pricing plans include unlimited Text,
Picture, Video Messaging and Instant Messaging to anyone on any network
in the U.S.

³The new plans are in response to customers¹ increasing demand for
greater text messaging options,² said Jim Naughton, director of consumer
marketing for Verizon Wireless. ³Text messaging has moved from being a
nice feature to a necessity for many customers. With the Quick Text
features on many devices today, more and more professionals are using
the service, in addition to the many teenagers who depend on text
messaging for fast communications.²

During the fourth quarter of 2006, Verizon Wireless customers sent and
received an industry record-setting 17.7 billion text messages and
exchanged more than 353 million picture and video messages.

To get Unlimited Messaging from Verizon Wireless, customers may call
customer service at 1-800-2 JOIN IN or dial *611 from their Verizon
Wireless phone.

Verizon Wireless recently introduced its 30-day Test Drive, an industry
first that lets customers experience its network virtually risk-free for
30 days. If customers are not satisfied with their experience and take
their numbers to another carrier, Verizon Wireless will refund their
money for calls, equipment, activation fee and taxes.

For more information on Verizon Wireless products and services, visit a
Verizon Wireless Communications Store, call 1-800-2 JOIN IN or go to
www.verizonwireless.com.

Yes, but you have to pay $20 more per month for it!

On a 3-line family share account, the extra cost is $30...so each line
gets unlimited messaging for $10.

Did you expect it to be free?

Wow...do the math! 17.7B text messages X .15/message =
$US2,655,000,000,000! How much are picture message each X 353,000,000?

No WONDER they wanna raise it to a quarter/message! That's some serious
money!

Quick, someone go look up their financial reports to the stockholders and
see if they're reporting $US2.6B income from text messaging....

That's $0.30 per message if it's on their network. Both the sender and the
receiver pay. I wonder how long it will be before VZW starts offering plans
that don't include voice. There's not enough profit there to make it worth
it when they can milk all their other services.

No. Unlimited messaging - Text and picture messaging - BETWEEN PHONES
ON THE SAME PLAN, and IIRC between VZW customers, was.

This is unlimited messaging to anyone, as far as I can tell, or at
least any domestic cellular customer. Sprint, Cingular and T-Mo have
had such addons for a while now.

I know. I enjoyed the years of free SMS messaging...then saw it go to 2
cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, and now 15 cents per.

If I were in their shoes and could get my hacks at the FCC to go along, I'd
drop CDMA voice when I dropped AMPS!....(c; They're wasting bandwidth with
cellphone service....

Unlimitted to anybody is a new feature for all carriers in the US ...
and I believe T-Mobile is the pioneer in this area.

Nah, Sprint and T-Mo have both had it for at least 2-3 years. Not sure
about Cingular.

Sprint hasn't had that for two or three years. Rather, they were officially
supposed to be charging, but a glitch in their system prevented them from
doing so. Official policy was that they bill for it. We all know how
functional Sprint's billing system is.
