Default Where are all the Chocolate owners?

Bought the LG VX8500 (Chocolate) last week. There doesn't seem to be much
chatter about it, so I'll throw in my 2 cents worth.

First, you can load MP3s directly onto the microSD card with your PC. Of
course you need a flash media reader. (You don't need the 'Music Essentials
Kit' to do this.) First plug the card into the phone. The phone will create
several folders. Put your MP3s in the 'my_music' folder.

I love the MP3 functionality. I like to 'Play All' in 'Shuffle' mode. You
can make play lists, if you like. The ear buds sound great. The built-in
speaker is a bit tinny but surprisingly loud for a 1/2 inch diameter unit.
The wife and I find the speaker listenable, not for audiophiles though.
Perhaps this will start a trend towards speakers. I'm personally tired of
ear buds! Let the speaker wars begin.

The 'touch buttons' on the front s--k! They work best if you just give them
a quick light touch. Do not press them. They are definitely not for the
fat-of-thumb or the long-of-fingernail. After a lot of practice I can get
them to work about 80% of the time. If you're reading this and are having
better luck with the buttons, please let me know. Maybe my unit is
defective.

The display is beautiful, haven't tried the camera yet.

The phone is loud and clear. I'm in a strong signal area, so I can't judge
the reception.

Don't care much for the combo power/data/earphone connector. I'd like to see
a standard earphone connector, and a separate power plug. Only time will
tell if this connector holds up. (I've had miserable luck with those tiny
mega-pin connectors on PDAs.)

They're all where they should be...in class in middle school.

It definitely seems like more of an MP3 player that just so happens to
make phone calls and take pictures. It looks alot like an iPOD too.

Anyone know how it tastes?

I think most are using a LG VX8300 instead. Very much the same features, but
it looks like a phone.

The chocolate is a pretty cool marketing idea. I already have 3
dedicated MP3 players so I really wouldn't need that feature on a phone
and it would drain the battery too much too for me justify something
like that.

I've heard good things about the VX8300, I've been looking at that and
the Samsung A930. Reviews for the 8300 seem to be more favorable.

I wish phone models weren't so proprietary. I'd love to get an i580
(style) phone (toughness, durability) but am kind of hesitant with the
whole Sprint/Nextel uneasiness right now.
