Where can I buy a non-branded/unlocked CDMA, HTC Touch Pro in the US
Hi all,
I've been thinking about trying to purchase and unlocked, CDMA version
of the HTC Touch Pro and having Verizon activate it under my current
account. Can anyone suggest where I might be able to purchase on on
the internet?

Sprint has a CDMA version of the HTC Touch Pro, but I don't want a
Sprint Logo on it.

I think you'll have trouble then. CDMA phones aren't (yet) usually
sold unbranded the way GSM phones are since traditionally you have
been forced to buy CDMA phones from the carrier you wanted to use
the phone with. Verizon may (or may not) have changed its rules
about the latter but that hasn't yet changed how the phones are
marketed.

They may activate it, but don't expect anything close to full
functionality.

"New rules"...?
The have ALWAYS activated other phones.
(The difficulty was getting the SUB lock from Sprint)
Re: Where can I buy a non-branded/unlocked CDMA, HTC Touch Pro in the US
From what I have seen of people activating Verizon phones on other carriers,
they loose Get it Now, MMS, WAP, Mobile TV, and in some cases MP3 playback
capability.

If you don't need: Get it Now, MMS, WAP, Mobile TV, etc, do you care?
If that stuff cost only $1/month, I wouldn't pay for it. I expect it
actually costs a good deal more!

Not true. They will not activate e816s (same as the e815) from AmpMobile.

IIRC, the e816 suffered from a severe bug that tied up a carrier's data
channel constantly even if the phone wasn't actively transferring data.
AMP'd went out of business before they could correct it. AFAIK, no one
will activate one of those 816s! Verizon, although fairly liberal about
activating non-Verizon phones, does draw the line at devices that "harm"
the network...

Ummm, language check: "The[y] have ALWAYS activated other phones" does not mean
that they have always activated every type of phone presented to them.

Unfortunately VZW won't even activate an e816 after it's flashed with the
VZW e815 firmware, making it an e815. The ESN is blacklisted.

While that's unfortunate, it's not surprising that Verizon is unwilling to
assume the risk of taking the customer's word the phone has been "fixed"
or taking the time/effort to have a qualified employee verify that it has
been. Blacklisting, sadly, is cheaper, easier, and safer.
