After the latest Verizon voicemail "upgrade", I (and my clients) were
thrilled to actually be able to use our Treos for normal voicemail
functions. Now, we get this whenever we check voicemail:
You have one unplayed message.
The following message has not been heard.
First unplayed message:
There has GOT to be a way to disable this nonsense. Seriously, how many
times do we need to be told that the new voicemail is an unheard message
that we haven't heard, and by the way, here comes the first unplayed message
that has been unplayed and hasn't been heard, but it's the first.

My VM reports this when there is an unheard message:
You have one unheard message...first unheard message sent today at 8:06 AM

If it's an UNHEARD message, why don't you consider HEARING it and then
saving/deleting it?
It is not supposed to go away and be marked heard UNLESS you do something
affirmative (like save or delete it etc)....
Why would you want to turn off the notification that you have unheard
voicemail? That's just plain dumb and crazy...

I believe his complaint is that the voice mail notice was designed
by someone in the Department of Redundency Department.
If you have just one unplayed message, and it's going to start playing
automatically anyhow, it would make far more sense to just have it
say, "Now playing unread message", instead of all of the other useless
and redundent prompts.
And, BTW, yes, I would LOVE to be able to configure VM so that I can
turn off unheard voicemail notifications. Sometimes I simply don't
care about unheard VM, and I want to get to an old message. I'm
perfectly capable of pressing a key to get my VM when I want to
check for unheard ones.

Rich is right w/ the Dept. of Redundency Dept. analogy. I don't need to
hear 3 times that I have an unheard message prior to listening to my first
unheard message. Ugh.

1. Maybe he had his phone off. Numbers don't show in the missed
calls list when its off.
2. Maybe it is a number from a large company, and any number of
people from there could have called.
3. Maybe he can't read minds and doesn't know *why* a person called.
4. Maybe you should respond to the link I provided you almost a month
ago showing VZW sued and got a judgment against a guy in Greenville
County for $50.18.

You still beatin' that horse? How many years? So what? They didn't get
$175 did they? That's the first time I've seen 'em win. Did this guy have
an attorney or just go out on his own with the vultures?
Has Alltel got CDMA bandsaw buzzing in Gville tonight? I had to forward
Alltel to Skype In to get calls, here. Incoming calls are droppin sync and
buzzing like crazy!
Yeah, I rebooted and relogged in about 4 times....no change.

There's amazing intelligence in the Universe.
You can tell because none of them ever called Earth.

Pot, meet Mr. Kettle. The only reason this has gone on as long as it
has is because of your typical tactic of making "smash and grab"
posts, disappearing for a while when you get outed as an idiot, then
returning as though nothing ever happened. What's the matter,
Lawrence, can't handle it when someone holds your feet to the fire
about your bullshit?
>They didn't get
>$175 did they?
They got a judgement for less than 1/3 of $175. So the logical mind
(I know that is a foreign concept to you) can only conclude they would
be very willing to go to court over a case for more than 3 times the
amount of a case where proof has been given that they've already won.
>That's the first time I've seen 'em win. Did this guy have
>an attorney or just go out on his own with the vultures?
Does it matter? It was decided by a South Carolina magistrate. If
you show up in magistrate's court without a lawyer, and the other side
does, the judge will hold the side with a lawyer to a higher standard
than the litigant without. Not conjecture on my part, I've been told
that by judges and several lawyers. Not imaginary lawyers, like
your's, but REAL ones.

And this has to do with what, why? Why don't you call Alltel and ask
them? Do I look like their customer support department? I haven't
had a problem with Alltel in quite a while. Maybe it's the tin foil
wrapped around your head.

Golly, I dunno. Why do I have to eat food in the morning? I already know
what food tastes like, so why bother?
Perhaps you'd be well suited with a career as a Salad Bar Cheater Spotter,
or perhaps as a Speed Bump.

I'll answer questions when there is a question to be answered. Your
tactic of oversnipping to twist words out of context is at work again.
What about that lawyer? Is he real or is he Memorex?
