Default Any ideas? I thought I would find SOMETHING out there... Modem advise for cable based net

Here is my scenrio.

My 'working solution' first, just to let you know I am aware of this type of
solution - I don't like it though! is to use eFAX

I have a laptop (downstairs) with no phone jack around where I use it
(living room) I access the 'net using a dlink wireless going to my cable
modem.
A phone jack is near the cable modem

I need to fax documents (200 - 400 pages a month, and I like to send a copy
to myself, so this number could be doubled) on a regular basis from my
computer, and efax is charging me an arm and a leg ($0.10 a page....minimum
of $40 a month on top of their monthly fee))

Is there anything that would work for me?
Ideas that I thought I would be able to find are something like:
a fax modem that is able to connect to the computer via wifi
a fax modem that is able to connect to the computer via bluetooth (I
could use the phone jack in the kitchen 15 feet way)
a wireless access point that has a modem built in.

But I have not found anything like this out in the real world!

I do not need to recieve faxes on this same line (I use FAX WAVE for this,
and have for over seven years, but they don't offer outgoing service)

Thanks,
Bruce

All of your proposed solutions sound more expensive and complicated than
just putting a phone jack convenient to your laptop.

Is this the sort of thing you had in mind?
http://www.action-electronics.com/telephone.htm

You'd also need a fax modem, of course, if that laptop doesn't have one built
in.

Not really... But it would be better than efax! I guess I could use a USB
modem with this, and it would be very minimual intrusion for daily
connect/disconnects.

Thanks
