Default Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard with Vista and TV-cards

I have a Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard, and I've been having a lot of
problems getting a new digital twin-tuner PCIe card to work with it. I am
just making this post so that any other owners of this motherboard know this
fact.

Vista will not boot with this motherboard when using many PCI or PCIe cards.
This seems to be very common with TV-cards but also seems to be the case
with soundcards and possibly any other PCI/PCIe card.

There are still constant BIOS upgrades for this board, so I hope there will
be a fix soon from Asus, or a Vista update from MS.

The best place to keep informed may be the Asus forums.

Wouldn't you know.

I just finished removing my new MSI 975x mobo and replaced it with an ASUS
P5W DH Deluxe. Everything went great until I went to find out why my
AverMedia stereo TV/FM card will not receiver off-air programming.
Everything is the same. Win XP Pro sr2b, same cpu, ram, hd's, opticals,
modem, psu. Same TV card.

The video capture works, audio capture works. But no TV or FM. When I
first booted-up, I received a message that the TV card did not initialize.
Now, after uninstalling and re-installing all the drivers and software,
(three times) I get no message, but the video/audio capture is still their.
I do not understand this.

I am assuming, that because this is a 2 to 3 year old card that perhaps it
is not PCI 2.1 compatible, or buss-mastering compatible??? Don't know.
Right now, I would be happy to know that I could go out and purchase a new
TV tuner card and put it in this mobo and have it work.

Any ideas?

William

The problem with this board and tv-cards that I am talking about is specific
to the new Windows Vista operating system. My 6 year old Hauppauge WinTV-FM
analogue card worked perfectly fine with this board when using Windows XP.
As that tv-card has no Vista drivers I bought a Black Gold twin-tuner
digital/analogue hybrid card, as it has drivers already.

But unfortunately this motherboard has issues with tv-cards (and probably
many other PCIe/PCI cards) when using Vista. It needs to be sorted out by
Microsoft or Asus as soon as possible!
