Default Case fan Question

I have an 80mm fan, and being stuck in the stone age, did not no anything
about the 92mm. I spotted two photos on the net to compare the mounting
holes and cannot tell if they are the same. They look the same.
Will a 92mm fit where an 80mm is now through same mounting holes?

No... 92mm is bigger than 80mm. The holes are in different places.

92 is rare for a case fan, they are normally found inside PSU's

cases appear to be either 80 or 120 now.

True, but wouldn't it be as well to buy the right fan if
some part has to be bought anyway?

I have in the past seem cases where the fan holes were
diagonal slits and could take either size of fan, but it is
uncommon.
