Default Dell e1505 SigmaTel 9200

The audio for my laptop does not work. The audio card is a SigmaTel
9200, windows says the device works just fine. The headphone jack
works if I only partially insert the cord. Dell instructed me to
reformat my computer. I did and nothing changed. I attempted
downloading a variety of drivers from the dell website and none worked.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have found many questions quite
similar to this in other forums but no answers, this tells me its a
common problem and I am hoping someone has experienced and solved this
problem.
Thanks in advance.

Headphone jack needs to be repaired, you can try re-soldering the
jack, if you know wat you're doing.

Is the only problem the headphone jack? do the on-board speakers work?
You're problem was not clear
You have now a clean system, so we can rule out a software problem.
