Install a Linux distribution. End of problem.

Off hand I don't know of any. However I do know of some where you get the
products for _free_ and then get updates for _free_. If having a physical
CD in your hand is really important to you then you could always download
one the appropriate packages and burn your own CD.

Avira Antivir is free and updates automatically, uses little resources and
has a >90% catch rate.

Nothing's guaranteed "forever". Did you do a web search for
free anti-virus products? Avast and AVG are two that come
to mind.
Please keep your topic subject/title shorter as a condensed
summary of the topic instead of an entire sentence. Thank
you.

I think I did but that none that none that I found five you free
firewall protection, so it looks like I got to shell out about 50
bucks a year. That's a lot of money.

I haven't tried it but there is always Comodo.

Eset NOD32 is well worth the money. AVG free version doesn't scan
scripts, for rootkits, web downloads or IM messages so misses the most
common forms of infection.

You don't need a "suite" of applications all on one CD. A
firewall won't need updated. Get the free antivirus product
you want, then get a free firewall application separately,
though you didn't mention what operating system... WinXP
already has a basic firewall, as does Vista, and many full
featured routers will offer firewall features. ZoneAlarm
has a free version and a Google search will turn up others. http://www.google.com/search?q=free+firewall

Mount a Linux version. Ubuntu is easy. All versions are free. No
worries about viruses.
