Default Is it easy to disable MB graphics?

I'm going to install an Nvidea PCI-E graphics card in a friend's computer
which presently has motherboard ATI graphic. How do I disable the MB
graphic? OS is Vista Home.

regards,

Beemer

The disabling normally happens in the BIOS setup although some ancient
boards actually had a jumper to do the job IIRC. The more modern
motherboards will have a setting for it -- my newest Gigabyte came with
a clever default of "automatic" which disables the onboard for you as
soon as you install one in the PCI-E socket. The MB manual should tell
you what to do.

First uninstall the video driver in vista.

Next power off the system, uplug AC power to it and install
the video card.

Next power on system and boot vista, installing new video
driver from http://www.nvidia.com now, not the old driver
which comes with the card nor the driver from the video card
manufacturer.

Reboot if required. Check Device Manager to see if the old
integrated video is still present/detected. If it is,
disable there and reboot to bios to see if there's a setting
to disable it (likely disabled automatically, already).

When the computer is first booting up, go into the BIOS and in there you
will find the option to disable the onboard video.
