hard disc

when I start my computer a message appear on the boot screen.

Ide channel 2 master disc S.M.A.R.T. status is bad
WARNING: imediate backup your hard disc drive, a failure may be immanent

at first not bother me but i can't defragment the hard drive, help

Athlon 64, asus A8V-XE motherboard, hard drive WDC WD1600-00MHBO

You didn't pay attention. Attempting to defrag is about the worst
thing you could do. You may well have lost everything on it.

Looks pretty clear to me.
Why the h*ll did you try to defrag, instead of trying to Save your data ?.

Stupid to defrag a drive whose health is dubious.

Post the Everest SMART report, that should
give more useful info on the health of the drive.

Backup what matters on that drive in case it does die.

That harddrive is obviously about dead. Replace it SOON.

backup your data AT ONCE

then replace the HD!
