That seems a little hotter than usual, though ultimately you
should improve the case cooling and then see how much it
helped. It does seem to need be kept cooler as drives can
do ok running pretty warm but beyond a certain point even if
it doesn't kill the drive it can lock up the logic and cause
dropouts from access or corruption.
The capacity as it bears on the # of platters needed to
reach that capacity can cause more motor heat all else being
equal, but there's still variations from brand to brand and
model. |
