Does anyone know where I can find a 70mm x 70mm x 10mm fan for my laptop?
(5 volt, 2 wire).
I've been scouring the web and no luck.
I got this laptop second hand, it's home built, i believe (no name)
It's a Y.S. Tech fan.
Part no. on fan is FD057010HB, but I think that # is for the whole heat sink
assy.

I only checked a few sites and they had 70mmx70mm 5V fans but they
were 15mm thick, not 10mm.
You might have to get the part from the unnamed vendor of the
unidentified laptop model. Didn't want to identify that Packard Bell,
huh? A Google search on "FD057010HB" turned up Packard Bells with YS
Tech fans. See http://www.ystechusa.com/ where they list a 70x70x10
fan but it is 12 volt. Why do you think it is a 5-volt fan?

I'm not sure where you're going here, but I'll take the high road.
There is literally NO NAME on this laptop. I think it is home built.
As to the "unnamed vendor", I bought it from a woman I used to work with (I
believe her father assembled it).
I did a lot of searching and I also came up with the Packard Bell
connection, but I think that's because
it uses the same heatsink assembly. I actually found a vendor for the fan,
but in they're in Europe. I think that laptop
may have only been marketed in Europe
See http://www.ystechusa.com/ where they list a 70x70x10

Thanks Paul. I tried to email Y.S. Tech, but the email wouldn't go thru (
Error: Could not connect to localhost on port 25. ) I guess I'll try to
contact one of their distributors.

That's an awefully big fan for a laptop, are you sure it has
a standard blade configuration or it is more of a
side-exhausting design like a squirrel cage? If the latter,
a standard PC 70x10 fan may move less air in the laptop
config, meaning it either cools less effectively or stays at
higher RPM under load, or fails to meet the need depending
on the mounting and airflow path.

I only saw 12V listed when visiting their Products page. Odd they
don't list both voltages except only in the spec sheet and not on the
product page. Looks like Tom knows what to put in but now needs to
find where to get one. A Google search on the 5V model numbers had no
results.

A home-built laptop? Never heard of one of those. Never heard you
could get the parts from general vendors to build one. Never seen
parts for owner-built laptops at newegg.com. Sounds interesting is
doable.
No labels at all on the outside, like underneath for a brand and
model? Anything inside the battery compartment when you open it up?

YS Tech's product page says 12V. Per Paul's post, the PDF says
differently and lists both 5V and 12V models.
A Google search on the 5V models had no results. You might have to
try their "Locations" link to see how close is a reseller of their
products. I suspect you'll end up paying a premium price.
