Default Laptop Problems

This is the problem, I have a Compaq R3007ap Notebook or Laptop
When I plug in the AC Adapter to give power to the machine, it has
problems in connecting to the Ac adaptor and charge the battery, It
seems the female connector on the machine could be to big, because I
twist the connector male in the female and there is charge sometimes and
at other times there is not, it disappears. it happens in Linux as well
as Win XP home!! does anyone have any ideas, this is driving me nuts!!!

you may have to have the connector on the laptop replaced.

Or it could just need resoldering, there may be a bad joint there.
