mac os 10.4 G5 imac - disk stuck. Hardware problem?

Hi,

If anyone can help I would be very grateful. My housemate has quite
innocently (!) while I was away managed to get a disk jammed in my
machine.

Not her fault to be honest, its a standard TDK (I think) disk with
some photos burnt on it.

When my machine (Betty - I know I shouldn't name her.....) spins the
disk round on startup and tries to eject it. The eject mechanism
sounds like its working but hitting something, so unfortunately it
sounds more like a mechanical problem. Could there be two disks
trapped in there?....

I was hoping that I could find the mythical paperclip eject button
but..no, or maybe I did but it didn't work. Damn their minimal
design!

If anyone can prevent me from carting Betty into town and back in the
rain and forking out my hard earned magic beans would be very much
appreciated.

Looks to be a slot load type drive.

Posting #4 here, mentions there is a paper clip hole *inside* the
slot somewhere. I find that hard to believe. And the URL of a
picture of it, is no longer valid.

Group title is alt.comp.hardware. Seems generic enough to include macs.

I agree. Is there a charter for the group? At any rate, a
top-posters opinion is automatically suspect.
