Default round ide cables

I want to replace my flat ribbon IDE cables with round ones. The two round
cables I bought have a grounding (earth) wire at both the motherboard end
and device end of the cable. Do both wires have to be grounded or just one,
and where is the best place to attach them? Thanks, Mark at {mcl AT inbox

They don't have to be connected at all but if you're going to connect them
I'd suggest both ends would be good. Although they're probably on there to
give the cable additional shielding, in which case you could get away with
one end. Just attach them to the most solid point you can find that will act
best as an earth.

One end should be connected to the case, (which is earthed via the PSU) and
the other end onto a large metal surface of the drive (this can be
difficult).
But at the end of the day this is only for extra shielding and a pos
increase of data rate around 2-3megs/sec. So dont lose any sleep if you
can't do it/cany be arsed to di it.
