The pictures don't make it look different than many others,
is it possible you just need to push a little harder? But
carefully so...

That's all it takes on my 940BX. Just grab both sides and apply a very firm
turning effort in whichever directiction you want it. / is easily achievable.

I'm meeting way too much resistance, it's nothing like a CRT monitor.
I'm afraid it's going to crack the stand if I push too much harder,
it's not budging and I'm really giving it some gusto.

Are there some screws I need to loosen or something?

Thanks for the help so far!

If you're really motivated you could link to some good
pictures of the back, around the area where the stand
bracket secures to the monitor, at a bit of an angle so we
can see the side of that joint too.

I'm still suspecting it's stiff and needs more oomph. If it
was in pieces when you got it and had to be assembled, check
first to be sure it is assembled correctly and no parts have
any kind of factory defect.

Pull out on the bottom and/or push on the top. I place my
fingers under the bottom of each corner with my thumbs on
the side facing up. Then I push with my thumbs as I pull
with my fingers.

Works for me.

Here's a picture of the monitor with the same stand as mine:
http://www.ecost.ro/monitor-samsung-931bf-p-23153/

Is that the same as yours?

When I try lifting from anywhere, the whole stand comes up with me.
Pushing it gets the monitor to tilt a tiny little bit, then it snaps
forward again. It's pretty damn secure.

Here's a page from the quick start menu (the user guide is no better):
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...8/EN/4_sub.htm

It gives an illustration on "Using the Stand." It's not very explicit,
but it does contain a view of how the stand attaches to the monitor.

Here's another shot of the back:
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...8/EN/3_sub.htm

That sure likes like a hinge, right below the green circle with the "2"
in it. In some pictures it looks like there is a cover that snaps on to
hide the connectors and what I'm seeing as the hinge. Maybe you can pop
that off and get a better look to confirm?

I bought a 960BF awhile ago, and am pretty pleased with it. Samsung's
software, like most equipment manufacturers, is for sh*t, though.
