Default SATA cables

In the instruction manual of my motherboard, it is emphasized that SATA
cables should not be bent 90 degrees.
Question: Why is there such a restriction and what is meant by bending 90
degrees, as it is practically impossible to connect the HD to the
motherboard without some bending of the cable.

I guess they mean that you should not make a sharp corner in the cable.

"You guess" is not the kind of reply I was looking for.

First off stop being an ignorant prick and he is right don't make a crook,
sharp bend, SATA cables are delicate just let them gently make the
transition from straight to however you want, hell when you get them the are
bowed in the packaging just don't make a sharp fold like you would a piece
of paper.

Then look it up on Google and quit pestering us.

This forum does not tolerate arrogant pricks like you. As far as we
are conserned you can shove the cable up your boyfriend's leftist
queer ass.

AOL indeed.

Even if we give you a factually accurate reason why you
shouldn't bend them at a 90' angle, there is no way anyone
but the author of the instruction manual can be certain,
instead of guessing, exactly what that author had in mind.

FWIW, you shouldn't bend ANY cable at sharp angles, always
using gradual curves instead. In rare cases when it seems
100% necessity, do not unbend and rebend that (bent area)
and try to make the bend as gradual as possible. A 90' turn
over 2 cm of cable is a lot better than a 90' turn over 3 mm
of cable.

SATA cables, or any other signal cable, should not be bent sharply. A sharp bend will crimp the cable and in a best case will cause a change of impedance at the bend, and in a worst case will cause a shorted or broken wire.
