Default SDRAM 133Mhz & DDR Compatability

Hi,

Simple quick question, my main board is playing up, and I'm looking for
a replacement with a 478 socket. I currently have 1Gb SDRAM 133mhz,
will this fit and opperate in a mainboard that specifies DDR 266/333 or
400 Mhz ram?

Many thanks

Bryan

Short answer is NO. Won't fit and wouldn't work even if
it did.

Sell the memory on E-bay?
Socket 478 boards are widely available, but I have no
personal experience with them. They are however,
somewhat dated by now. Go to Anandtech
or Toms Hardware for mobo reviews.

Either buy an older generation board that does accept PC133,
or replace your memory too. If you already had a skt 478
CPU and just want lowest cost replacement, getting an older
board that takes PC133 mem might make sense. If you don't
have the CPU yet and are going to be paying multi-hundred
dollars for board AND CPU, makes more sense to spend the
$100 for a gig of DDR memory.

slots for sdram and ddr ram are physically differant so thats not an option.
unfortunately boards that take both types are now virtually non-existant.
you
may see one on Ebay but it'll be a real hassle to find one that suits and if
its
picky about ram (and some are) you may find that a complete waste of time.
i was in your position last year and bought a board that was identical in
spec to my old board but a differant
manufacturer. it turned the new board was very finicky about ram and wouldnt
run stable with my ram.
best option is to sell your SDRAM for whatever you can get and get a new
board and ddr.

No, it will not. Your SDRAM sticks use a different pin layout then the DDR
RAM you mentioned that modern motherboards use.
