Sony Vaio CD/DVD tray

The cd/DVD tray of my Sony Vaio PCG-GR215GP will not stay closed. This is a
removable unit Part PCGA-RDVG1 whose label says Hitachi-LG Data Storage Inc
(HL Data Storage) Model GCC-4080N Type SYGO.

Does anyone know what kind of mechanism is used to hold the tray closed?
Also if they have had a similar problem can it be fixed?

will the tray stay closed when the computer is off or can you open and close
it with your fingers.

I found a couple sources that say that dvd unit does not have a
motorized tray but simply a latch to hold it closed .

I couldn't find any details of the latch :(

I had the same problem once, and found the dvd unit was mounted too
close to the front of the computer case. I opened the computer and
loosened the screws that held the dvd drive in place, slid the dvd
drive back just a little and tightened the screws. Wala! problem
fixed!!
