Default Switch for Fiber

We have a new office with fiber ST connector. We are putting in an HP
procurve 4160gl 60 port switch. Would it be best to feed the fiber
straight into the switch with an added fiber module/port ? or go into a
converter. My question is basically will the HP procurve handle the fiber
better than if it came in as another Gigabit port from the
converter(blackbox).

Thanks

CR

I don't know the answer myself but you might have better luck posting the
question on comp.dcom.telecom.
