Default System hangs mid-boot

ASUS P5GC-MX1333 Boot Problem. Running XP Pro-SP2-3 Gig RAM-Boot C:
drive - Western Digital 3200AAKS-75VYA0 SATA - Have two Western Digital
drives on ATA Controller - Have four drives on Belkin external USB hub -
Three Seagate drives and one Western Digital - Also an LG DVD RW on same
hub. When system boots it auto detects the External hard drives. Then
system halts. If I start system with hub unplugged - then plug hub in
once Windows is running Windows recognizes both hard drives and LG DVD
writer. Is there a setting in BIOS I can adjust to address this issue?
