Default TV2PC & PC2TV via WIFI for use as a DVR

The subject pretty much says it all.

I see many of the new TVs are WIFI enabled to receive signals from (I
would assume) a computer. I have a home WIFI setup with I5 laptop so
sending cable TV signals via WIFI to be recorded on the laptop seems
like it ought to be doable.

The idea is to avoid the absurd Tivo $20/month charge or the cable
company's equally absurd monthly fees for the same service.

Is this currently possible? Or should I put that on *next* Christmas's
wish list?

Thx,
John
