Underclocking RAM

Hi,

I wish to underclock my RAM to see whether it is the cause of some errors
I'm getting during gameplay (WoW to be specific)

The problem is I cannot find any options in my BIOS for doing this (I dont
think my mobo is that great - WinFast K7S741MG)

So i was wondering if there is another way to do it?

Download and run Memtest86+ ver 1.11 from a floppy. When it starts hit 'c'
'2' '3' '0' and let it go overnight at least. If you have anything wrong
with your RAM it will find it. You need to let it cycle through all the
tests at least once. ("1" in the 'pass' column) That actually took 27 hours
on a Celeron 1.3 on a BX board with 384MB of SDRAM last week. Should be a
lot quicker on a more modern machine.

yesterday I went and downloaded the latest memtest86+, v
1.60. Is there an advantage to v 1.11? It seemed that at
one point memtest86+ was still more buggy than memtest86 (no
plus) but I never got around to trying several versions to
nail down the problem... then later I just used the newest
and never noticed any problems but I can't recall which
chipset(s) it was manifested on either. Yesterday after I
d/l v 1.60 it ran fine on a PLT133T box.

Actually Dave I don't really know. I'm not up with the latest releases, I
just assume the newer ones recognise newer chipsets. I downloaded the latest
(at the time) when I had an nForce2 board and have used it ever since. 1.11.
It seems to run fine so I havn't looked for a newer version as I haven't
been working with newer hardware at all.

I must cease mentioning 1.11 in future. :-) I like the '+' version as it
gives more info and I've never had stability problems with the only version
I've tried.

Hey if he has P3 running a 133 FSB & running mem at 133 then just pop a 100
stick of 32megs or so in one slot & the lot will run at 100.
Same if he has 3200 ram then just pop a stick of 2100 in.
Well I reckon anyway..................

Installing a PC100 module will not cause a board previously
running at 133 MHz mem bus to drop to 100.

Problem doesnt seem to be happenening now so I guess I'll leave the mem
alone ( for the time being at least!)
