Default upgrading to Ath 64 X2 in Windows 2K?

Are there any problems / pitfalls I need to be aware of when swapping a
Athlon 64 3800 X2 (939) for a Venice 3000 under Windows 2000 Pro?

The o/s has all the latest upgrades. Board is an Asus A8N-VM CSM on
latest BIOS.

Are you swapping a X2 3800 for a 3000 or the other way round? Its going to
be slower if I read your question correctly!

Either way, if you are keeping the same motherboard, then Windows shouldn't
grumble too much. If you are changing the motherboard as well, then expect
driver troubles for a while and possible a few boots into safe mode to
remove things. Maybe even a re-install of windows.

Nope no worries at all, unless you are worried about your new X2 being
perceived as two separate CPU's, other than that...Nothing but
performance increase.
