I'm looking for a webcam that I can point out the window and it will adjust
itself to the sunlight. All of the ones I've bought lately will totally
white out in bright sunlight. They were all cheapos but I hate to spend a
lot of money on something that won't work either. The best one of the bunch
I have is an old 3 Com Webcam Lite that I've had for several years.
I'll happily pay more for one that I know will work. I'm not having much
luck Googling for that particular scenario.
You can see what I'm trying to do at http://mewnlite.com/webcam
Recommendations appreciated!

These pics look pretty good to me, LA. I have had several webcams but
never tried the viewing like this. I was looking at some security cams
some time ago for the same sort of purpose but they were a bit on the
heavy (price) side for me. (UK)

I can live with the night time one but the other one only looks decent
because it was very cloudy out.
Actually, I need a second one, and I don't have any idea what to get. I
suppose I could look around for a used 3 Com, but surely there are new and
improved cameras that will do better yet.

Are these shots thro' the window glass or from outside? If thro' the
glass, how did you fix the cam to the glass/surrounds?

"The four-inch-high camera also has a brightness sensor to
reduce glare and improve lighting in gloomy surroundings"
Found by Google searching webcam brightness sensor
if you do this search or similar you may find more products.
Also go to the respective websites of a few major peripheral
manufacturers to see their product descriptions, companies
like 3Com, Intel, Belkin, Linksys, Logitech, D-Link

Where there's a will, there's a way. http://mewnlite.com/window.jpg
That is NOT the 3 Com camera. That one is a VMicro which totally washes
out in broad daylight. See http://alongthewapsie.com/blahcam.html
There's abnout a half hour in the early morning and another half hour at
dusk where it looks pretty good.

kony, that's not bad for the price. The sensor justifies the price.
