Default what are these sockets for?

I have seen these connections on the back of a number of PCs but I never get
around to asking what are they .. well I know you guys will be able to tell
me straight away.
Look at the image here of the back of someone's PC... the sockets right at
the bottom .. what are they?

They look like Firewire sockets.

thanks, searching on firewire ports give me loads of images of those ports
... two kinds apparently .. I've never used firewire .. which goes some way
to explain my ignorance ;)
