Win repair under a SATA drive

MoBo is an ASUS A8V running 1 x SATA C: Drive, OS is XP Home SP2

I had cause to run a windows repair and changed the boot sequence to CD then
HDD.

the repair operation checked out the hardware but reported back it could not
see a drive.

I aint used to these SATA systems so how do I get it to see the drive.

Place the SATA driver on a floppy. Press F6 when prompted during setup
or repair.

OK I thought it was only done during setup.........thanks
