Default New Version of McAfee removes Ad-Aware...

Hi,

I just did an update to my McAfee Firewall/Virus Scan On-line and was
prompted to down load a NEW down load manager which then went on to
install new versions of the software. Well, it attempted to. I let it
do the firewall but told it no when it told me that it would not work
with Ad-Aware software and would delete them in order to install Virus
Scan.

It removed the existing version of Virus Scan and now all I have is the
Firewall software and Security Center.

Trying to communicate with McAfee is impossible but I did send an email
to sales@McAfee.com expressing my distaste with this and the fact that
I was given no warning about this whatsoever prior to it doing
installs/deletions.

So, what to do? I am very upset at the way they have done this and now
am looking for alternatives to McAfee. Too bad really because I had
been relatively happy with the most recent versions of their software.
I cannot say that now.

Thanks,

Jim

Pretty bold act by McAfee. I recently gave Avast a try and it informed
me that there was a conflict with ZoneAlarm. It recommended that I
disable ZA! Went to AntiVir instead.

Hey, that's quite good. Ad-Aware is a provably piece of crap. Just read
the reverse engineering analysis at rootkit.com.

Oh well, basically nothing at all.

Well, what's your problem?

OK, what properties are important for you with that software?

[ ] Doesn't work.
[ ] Fucks up the system.

Avast tried to remove a known useless software and you're complaining? :-)

Me referencing the extensive analysis of Ad-Aware as posted on
http://www.rootkit.com, showing how crappy it actually is?

Try using Ant-Vir, it's highly rated and offers a free version, regards
