Default "b" Router with "g" wireless card

In general are should there be any difficulties with using 802.11g NIC
with 802.11b router?

Not unless you configured the wireless adapter for "g" only.

Generally, no.
I think most public hotspots are "b" routers.

I did have a problem with a "b Turbo" card and a G router. I think the
problem was a pre-release spec of one vendor's "Turbo" colliding with the
PBCC code in a different vendor's newer "g" router.

I suppose that could happen in reverse, if you had an older "turbo" router.
