Default Connecting Routers

So before I go out and buy the directional antennas. I have purchased two
wrt54gl routers and flashed them with dd-wrt23 sp2 following their tutorial
I got the two routers connected in bridge mode. My questions are if router 1
is my internet and assigns my dhcp, can router two do double duty and use
the antenas for accepting info from router 1 and possible wireless
connections from a laptop or can I only use the ports on the back of the
router 2.

Router 2 could be configured as a repeater (WDS) to extend your wireless
range, but that could be problematic with a directional antenna pointed
at router 1, so if you want to try that, first see if you can get by
with only a directional antenna on router 1.
