Edimax MIMO annoyance - reboot on any config change

I have the EDIMAX BR-6216Mg MIMO wireless router, in genral it works
fine.
There is one annyance I wish to solve:
Each time I change any configuration element using the web based
management feature
the router has to reboot in order to activate the new change.
This drops internet service to all my users for several seconds and
kills downloads/video streams etc.
Can this be worked around or plain solved ?
