Default Netgear 10x range vs. Linksys 4x?

What has the better range? I can pick up for around $100 a 4x range
Linksys (quite like linksys), or a 10x range netgear wireless router.
Or is there some other option I need to consider?

My requirement is this: I need to put the router in my house, and be
able to access the wireless connection from another house next door,
which is about 300 feet away. With my current WRT54G (1x) I can get a
laptop to connect about half 200 feet away, outside. Its a wooded
area, not too much electrical noise around.

Thanks!

DeanB
