Default Online archive of (DLink) firmware?

Hi,

Does anyone know of an online source that has been archiving firmware? I'm
specifically looking for firmware for a DLink DI-764 router (Firmware
Version: 2.10 , Tue, 10 Dec 2002).

DLink, in the great wisdom, has decided to take firmware off their website
for hardware that they no longer support. An email request sent to DLink
was reponded with, basically, "We don't support that hardware anymore. Give
us your money for something new."

So... I'm hoping this particular firmware exists out on the web somewhere.
I've found websites with other firmware, but none (so far) for the DI-764.

Thanks...

Yep. No firmware:
<ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/di764/>
<http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DI-764>

Try the various foreign DLink sites such as this one from Russia:
<http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DI-764/>
Hmmm... nothing. This getting weird. I tried a few other countries
and couldn't find anything.

I don't believe the part about not supporting old products. There are
much older wireless products (DWL-900AP+) that still have firmware on
the DLink web site. My guess(tm) is that something seriously wrong
was found with the firmware. Probably a giant security hole. Rather
than fix it, it was simply removed from the site.

My guess(tm) is that the firmware image will be named:
di764_firmware_210.bin
However, Google didn't find anything similar.

Thanks, Jeff, for taking to time to search for it also. If anyone could
find it, it would be you! :-)
I didn't even think about searching using DLink's filename convention.

Your effort is much appreciated...

The Australian web site has some firmware available. I'm not sure it's
useable here though.

Wow, nice find. I'm nervous about trying to install it though. :(

Since the frequencies are different in each country, I could see how the
firmware could potentially be different too.

Australia has 13 channels instead of the usual 11 channels in the US.
I don't think that will be a problem in the wireless router. You
select the channel number in the router configuration. Keep it down
to 1, 6, or 11 and you'll be fine. If your DI-764 is inoperative,
then nothing is lost by taking the risk. If it's working and you just
want an update, I would continue looking for the US version.

Found a copy that I had saved on a laptop a long time ago! I forgot all
about it...

I plan on giving it to one of my friends, but the installed firmware had
become corrupted somehow. It hadn't been powered up in a very long time.
Its back up and running now though.

Oh yeah, the current (last) version of the firmware was:

Firmware Version: 2.15 , Tue 23 Mar 2004

If anyone else actually ever looks for this US firmware in the future (which
I doubt, but) and comes across this post after deja'ing, just email me and
I'll send it to you...
