Is it possible to set a specific IP address when coming into a web page by browser?

Can someone just point me in the right direction to set my IP address to a
specific IP address while coming into a specific web site?

It would be useful to impersonate a different specific domain when I visit
a particular web site. I know about OperaTor, which works fine, but it
comes in with an arbitary IP address - I have a specific IP address in mind
that I need to come in as.

I'm on Windows XP but can install Linux if that's what it takes to assume a
specific IP address.

Is there a pointer to a method of setting a specific IP address when coming

You can't do this. Communication with a web page is a two way process.
If they don't have your real IP address, or that of the proxy such
Tor, then there is no way for the web page to send any data back to
you.

I'm wondering why this would be needed....

I can only see two reasons for doing this.....1) if a specific web page
requires you to be in a certain locale to access it. Example - You can
watch shows online at CTV.ca, BUT, only if your IP address shows you are
from Canada.....

Or 2) Your trying to hose someone, like going to known child pornography
sites to get 'their' IP logged. Or VPN'g into a company to try to get
someone else fired.

Am I missing a third ?

As someone mentioned though, if the site doesn't have the correct IP,
nothing will get back to you anyway.

In networking terms this isn't going to be practical unless you're
hanging off the same network segment as the server. The communication
is two-way so the server needs to interact with the client (or proxy).
If there's a router between you and the server then it's transmissions
aren't going to reach your (spoofed) client address.

Of course, if you are running the webserver then it's a different
matter. :)

in the end it doesn't matter how you slice it. he's trying to do something
illegal and probably vile to somebody. i'm betting it's number two.

No. The IP address also controls how the packets get routed back to you.
If you're not on that particular IP address then no packets would get routed
back to you.
