Proxim ORiNOCO 802.11b/g PC Card Gold

I've got a Proxim ORiNOCO 802.11b/g PC Card Gold(Model 8470-WD) that
I've been trying to get to work on any bootable/live linux distro, but
I've had no success. I've seen the card on supported hardware lists
though.

I've heard that maybe I'd have to put new Firmware on the card or
something? Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated.
